For historical data and facts, please see links to the left.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Formula 1 world championship points system<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Points are awarded as follows:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table basic-table\"><table><tbody><tr><td>1st place<\/td><td>25 points<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>2nd place<\/td><td>18 points<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>3rd place<\/td><td>15 points<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>4th place<\/td><td>12 points<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>5th place<\/td><td>10 points<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>6th place<\/td><td>8 points<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>7th place<\/td><td>6 points<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>8th place<\/td><td>4 points<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>9th place<\/td><td>2 points<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>10th place<\/td><td>1 point&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The only exception to this is when a race is suspended and cannot be restarted. If less than 75 % of the race distance has been completed half points are awarded, and if less than two laps have been completed, no points are awarded.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To receive points a driver must finish in the top 10 positions and need not finish the race, but must have covered at least 90 % of the winner's race distance. The drivers and constructors championship titles are awarded to the driver and constructor that have the most points at the end of the season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If two or more drivers or constructors have the same number of points, their positions in the championship are fixed according to the quality of their places.
